Kaiser Family Foundation's State Health Facts Online
The Kaiser Family Foundation’s State Health Facts Online Web site contains individual state profiles and 50 state comparisons on a breadth of health indicators. The site has a Women’s Health category which includes data on women's health-related Medicaid information, state insurance mandates, refusal clauses, emergency contraception policies, abortion policies and statistics, and mammogram and Pap smear screening. In addition, the foundation has two useful fact sheets which provide the most current data on health insurance coverage for women ages 18-64. The fact sheet, Women’s Health Insurance Coverage, provides new statistics on health coverage and describes the major sources of health insurance for non-elderly adult women, including employer-sponsored coverage, Medicaid, individually purchased insurance, and Medicare. It also summarizes the major policy challenges facing women in obtaining health coverage, and provides data on the more than 17 million women who are uninsured. The second fact sheet, Health Insurance Coverage of Women by State, provides state-by-state data on the uninsured rate, as well as rates of private insurance and Medicaid coverage.

State of Florida

Florida Women’s Health Data Report – 2006
The 2004 Florida Legislature recognized that women have gender-specific health-care needs and that public policy needs to address their distinct health issues to improve their overall health status. To ensure that the state’s policies and programs are responsive to sex and gender differences, and to women’s health needs across the life span, the
Florida Legislature created an Officer of Women’s Health Strategy within the Florida Department of Health. This landmark legislation also mandated the organization of an Interagency Committee on Women’s Health and authorized the assessment of the health status of women in Florida. The result of this assessment, the Florida Women’s Health Data Report, is the first time a comprehensive assessment of the health of women has been undertaken in Florida.
