The following online courses and resources offer free continuing education in topics related to women’s health.
Online Course: The Science of Sex and Gender in Human Health The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH), in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Office of Women’s Health (OWH), offers an online course, The Science of Sex and Gender in Human Health. The course offers participants a basic scientific understanding of the major physiological differences between the sexes, their influence on illness and health outcomes, and their implications for policy, medical research, and health care.
The National Institutes of Health/Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (NIH/FAES) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The NIH/FAES designates this educational activity for a maximum of six AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CME Credits on Tobacco Cessation available through University of Miami AHEC
Available through the University of Miami Area Health Education Center (UM AHEC) as a part of the State of Florida Comprehensive Tobacco Program, Tobacco Cessation Continuing Education for Healthcare Providers and Counselors offers eight interactive, evidence-based courses on helping patients quit smoking and other tobacco use. One course specifically focuses on pregnancy and smoking and there are general courses that have content relevant to women. Office of Research on Women’s Health Podcasts
The Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) offers a series of podcasts, Pinn Point on Women’s Health, hosted by Dr. Vivian W. Pinn, Associate Director for Research on Women’s Health and the Director of the ORWH. In the monthly podcast series, Dr. Pinn discusses the latest news in women’s health research and includes conversations with guests on a variety of subjects.
