Mission
The Institute for Women’s Health (IWH) is dedicated to improving the health of women across their life span through multi-disciplinary research, education, clinical service and community partnership.
The IWH believes in:
- A culturally sensitive approach to meeting the needs of a diverse community
- Valuing the whole woman and advocating a comprehensive, holistic approach to health and wellness
- Encouraging an understanding of and actions toward gender-specific approaches to health care delivery
- Training health care professionals to better serve women
- Promoting clinical research on topics which disproportionately affect women and advocating fair representation of women in clinical trials
- Serving as a resource for up-to-date and scientifically accurate information on women’s health issues
- Pragmatically connecting the academic resources of the university to the community in mutually beneficial partnerships to address women’s health within a broader societal context
